Severe/Profound Special Education Teacher

Summary:

The Severe/Profound Special Education Teacher is responsible for the education and care of students with severe and profound disabilities. This includes developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing instruction in a variety of settings, and collaborating with parents, other teachers, and support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with parents, teachers, and other professionals
• Provide instruction in a variety of settings, including self-contained classrooms, general education classrooms, and community settings
• Collaborate with parents, other teachers, and support staff to meet the needs of students with severe and profound disabilities
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
• Participate in professional development activities
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field
• Valid teaching license in the state of employment
• Experience working with students with severe and profound disabilities
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Experience with transition planning
• Bilingual skills
