Job Description: Head Boys Basketball Coach (7th & 8th Grade) Position Overview The 7th & 8th Grade Head Boys Basketball Coach is responsible for leading, structuring, and supervising the middle school boys' basketball program. The primary focus of this role is to teach fundamental skills, instill teamwork and sportsmanship, and prepare student-athletes for high school-level competition. The head coach will foster a positive, disciplined, and competitive environment that emphasizes both athletic development and academic excellence. Key Responsibilities Player Development: Teach fundamental basketball skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive positioning) and introduce basic offensive and defensive strategies. Team Management: Organize and conduct daily practices, manage game-day strategy, determine player rotations, and oversee tryouts and team selections. Mentorship & Character Building: Serve as a positive role model. Emphasize sportsmanship, discipline, accountability, and the importance of academic success. Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, games, and travel. Supervise locker rooms and training facilities. Communication: Maintain clear, professional, and timely communication with players, parents, school administration, and athletic directors regarding schedules, expectations, and policies. High School Alignment: Coordinate with the Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach to align terminology, offensive/defensive concepts, and program culture. Administrative Duties: Manage inventory of uniforms and equipment, assist with game scheduling, and ensure compliance with all school and state athletic association rules.
