Job Title: High School English Teacher
Department: English Language Arts (ELA)
Reports to: Michelle Sorter, Principal
We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will foster a love for literature, sharpen students' critical thinking skills, and develop their ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech. You will be responsible for creating a classroom environment that is inclusive, intellectually stimulating, and supportive of diverse learning styles.
Curriculum & Instruction:
Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards.
Teach a variety of genres, including British and American literature, world literature, poetry, and non-fiction.
Instruct students on the writing process, from argumentative essays to creative narratives.
Student Assessment:
Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work to encourage growth.
Utilize formative and summative assessments to track progress and adjust instruction.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom culture.
Employ diverse teaching strategies to keep students engaged.
Collaboration & Growth:
Participate in departmental meetings and professional development workshops.
Collaborate with the Special Education department to implement IEP and 504 accommodations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, or Secondary Education.
Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification for Secondary English (Grades 9–12).
