Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher

Clinton High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Teacher to join our Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. The ideal candidate is passionate about equipping students with the essential life skills needed to navigate the complexities of modern living, including nutrition, financial literacy, child development, and career preparation.
At Clinton High, we value hands-on learning and community involvement. You will be responsible for managing a laboratory-based classroom (such as a commercial kitchen or sewing lab) and serving as the advisor for our local FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) chapter.
Instructional Excellence: Plan and deliver engaging lessons based on Oklahoma state standards for FCS, covering topics like Culinary Arts, Human Development, Hospitality, and Personal Finance.
Lab Management: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized laboratory environment. This includes managing equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring all safety protocols are strictly followed.
FCCLA Leadership: Serve as the primary advisor for the FCCLA chapter, guiding students through competitive events, leadership conferences, and community service projects.
Career Readiness: Help students explore career pathways within the Human Services, Education, and Hospitality industries.
Classroom Culture: Create an inclusive, high-energy environment that fosters mutual respect and encourages students to take creative risks.

RequirementDescription
EducationBachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences Education or a related field.
CertificationValid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Family and Consumer Sciences (Grades 9–12).
Technical SkillsProficiency in culinary techniques, textile construction, or early childhood education theory.
CommunicationStrong interpersonal skills to collaborate with parents, local businesses, and administration.
AdaptabilityAbility to manage a budget and pivot lessons based on student interests and industry trends.
