Job Title: High School English Teacher

Department: English Language Arts (ELA)

Reports to: Michelle Sorter, Principal

Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated High School English Teacher to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will foster a love for literature, sharpen students' critical thinking skills, and develop their ability to communicate effectively in writing and speech. You will be responsible for creating a classroom environment that is inclusive, intellectually stimulating, and supportive of diverse learning styles.

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum & Instruction:

  • Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards.

  • Teach a variety of genres, including British and American literature, world literature, poetry, and non-fiction.

  • Instruct students on the writing process, from argumentative essays to creative narratives.

• Student Assessment:

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work to encourage growth.

  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to track progress and adjust instruction.

• Classroom Management:

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom culture.

  • Employ diverse teaching strategies to keep students engaged.

• Collaboration & Growth:

  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development workshops.

  • Collaborate with the Special Education department to implement IEP and 504 accommodations.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, or Secondary Education.

• Certification: Valid State Teaching Certification for Secondary English (Grades 9–12).
