Position Summary:

The High School Girls Softball Coach is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all aspects of the school’s softball program. This includes player recruitment, skill development, team strategy, and game management. The coach will foster a positive and competitive environment, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic achievement.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Player Development:
    • Evaluate and assess players' skills and abilities.
    • Develop and implement practice plans to improve individual and team performance.
    • Provide instruction in fundamental softball skills, including hitting, pitching, fielding, and base running.
    • Promote physical fitness and conditioning through appropriate training programs.
  • Team Management:
    • Recruit and select players for the team.
    • Develop and maintain a positive team culture.
    • Motivate and inspire players to achieve their full potential.
    • Enforce team rules and regulations.
    • Address disciplinary issues promptly and fairly.
  • Game Strategy:
    • Develop and implement effective game strategies.
    • Make in-game adjustments to capitalize on opportunities and minimize risks.
    • Prepare scouting reports on opposing teams.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of player eligibility, attendance, and academic progress.
    • Coordinate team schedules, including practices and games.
    • Oversee the ordering and maintenance of equipment and uniforms.
    • Comply with all Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) rules and regulations.
    • Attend required coaching clinics and workshops.
  • Community Relations:
    • Represent the school and softball program positively in the community.
    • Build relationships with parents, boosters, and other stakeholders.
    • Promote the softball program through various channels, such as social media and local news outlets.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate
  • Experience coaching softball at the high school level.
  • Strong knowledge of softball rules, regulations, and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to the academic success of student-athletes.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
